build a squidoo lens

I think I’m going to get totally addicted to this site! I just created my first lens (a top ten list on books about writing):

Right now, I’m having more fun reading through as many lenses as I can. I’ve found information that I was searching for unsuccessfully elsewhere, in easy to read formats.

Very cool site. I’m so glad I found it!

So am giving up. The energy I would put in making a lens is better spent in refining my tools and working on client’s sites.

I discovered this last week and it’s pretty addictive. I keep thinking of new ones all the time!

but I just can’t get started. I don’t have a particular topic I want to address. I don’t use the site myself, I just see it as another way to gain exposure for whatever.

Okay, Seth Godin the site’s founder sort of sees it that way himself, but I’m not in the mood to do it at the moment. I think I see using that as more procrastination. Right now I’ve bigger fish to fry.

However, I know it’s something I should start to do, not least for when I advise clients on doing so as part of their SEO work, and so for now the task stays on this list.

I’ve created a few lenses by now, but the one that has done really well is the The Essential Web Developer Bookshelf lens. It is ranked 243 at the moment and was even featured in SquidU and on the SquidBlog.
