How to decorate my living room

 "Bookshelves, guitar hangars, and picture frames-
It's soo not blank in here anymore!""
How I did it: I bought bookshelves, to fill up the walls, hangars to display our beautiful instruments, and frames to fill it out. I matched the bookshelf L-bars with our antique looking metal wall clock. It's soooo nice now! It took several months to get the funds together, but it was worth it, even if we move away in 3 months. Lessons & tips: Using the 'draw' program on the computer- making squares, and whatnot, to lay out a wall, before you buy anything. I didn't know I'd need more picture frames until I looked at the wall outline without them. Resources: computer, stores? |

KItty Litter Box

Right now the kitty litter box is in the living room and we need to find a way to hide it. We looked into pieces of furniture that hide the box and found one that we like, the kattbank. The only problem is that it costs $2,000.

It looks like we’re getting some money back from the government. Maybe we’ll use some of it to buy a new TV.
Redecorating in a Recession

This is as much as we’re willing to spend on our living room these days – $12 on a new lampshade for an accent lamp. We wouldn’t even have spent that but the old one was so shredded it had become a fire hazard.
Next on the list is a flat-screen TV. We have no idea when that’ll happen. Hopefully the economy will be looking better by the fall.
Backsliding

Our toddler tore one of the curtains down in the living room and when I went to put it back, I saw how worn the curtain is and how shoddily it was installed. I knew that we were going to have to replace the curtains but now it’s sooner rather than later. And with the economy where it is, later is the new sooner.
Gotta Do the Bedroom First

Our living room has a lot of space to fill. We think that the first step is to replace the TV. We want to do that with rewards points from our credit card. This could take a while, as we are not the types to run up huge credit card bills.
Another thing done

I filled two big collage frames and realized I could hang them together so they look like one HUGE frame- very cool! Just a couple more things left to do and the living room is done.
I also rearranged all the furniture so it feels more like ME.

Living room update

WOW- what a difference our curtains make- we love them! And we got the chair pad for the rocking chair… unfortunately it’s tiny, but it’s very comfortable. The downfalls of ordering online…
Once we redo the molding and ceiling, and get some new end tables- this room will be phenomenal!
I actually think I will count this as done for now because the rest is more than just decorating!

All of the curtains have now arrived- still waiting on the chair pad (hopefully today?)
And my husband purchased curtain rods and finials today. Yay! So, hopefully we can hang them tonight or tomorrow. I think this will make a HUGE difference in that room, and the temperature of our house.

And they’re framed and ready to hang… still trying to decide on WHERE though!
I have two big collage frames to fill, also, and I just got my photo library back from the wasband. Have to choose my photos and get them printed, then I will have everything I want to put in the living room and it will be done. Pretty neat :)
