I have no job, therefore no career and money. Obviously my path to financial independence is very, very long.

Things are slowly moving forward. I have been re-organizing my resources, but lack the time to follow through with the plan. I am looking for other means to make residual income and manage my energy better to keep on going with the master plan.

Here I am. 2 weeks ago

It’s hard to think of myself as financially independent when I don’t pay many bills. I mean I currently have a job that pays me for 40 hours a week, then owns my soul during my free time for room AND board, and some benefits. I mean what do I have to spend money on? Cell phone? Car? Taxes? I mean really? For school, I’ve had enough scholarships that my parents don’t have to lift a finger. All I have to do right now is save for the future.
I guess I feel pretty lucky! It’s looking pretty bleek for a lot of people. This recession has made it hard on everyone. Everyday I hear of more people losing their jobs, it’s scary. Soon I’ll be trying to get a job that I would have those kinds of concerns. I probably wont be so lucky as to think I can walk into an interview and get the job. Every year would be a guess as to whether they renew the contract. Things I have no control over and probably shouldn’t concern myself with. Some day.

Minor set back 3 weeks ago

By living frugally I managed to save up quite a bit over the past year, but now that I’m starting graduate school I’m back to relying almost completely upon my mom. The teaching position will pay enough to cover my rent and transportation, but mom will still be picking up the rear on things like food, airfare, and insurance. I think it will be worth it in the long run, when I can apply for really well-paid jobs after I get my master’s!

Still living at home with a part time job.
Someday it’ll all change whether it’s up to me or “fate”.

Just graduating from college, I feel confident that I can find a job and start my life – but want to be completely independent in doing so. Unfortunately, finances are not my strong suit so let’s see if making this goal can help me get on my own feet for the first time.
