I’m just not passionate enough about this. I’ve discovered that I’m more interested in combining my interests into one thing that I love.

hey guys, i’m divided between majoring in Nursing or Graphic Design. I like GDesign better but i think Nursing has higher employability. I was considering majoring in GDesign, but i’ve got concerns when it comes to getting a job. I need some wise advice cos i’ll be using mostly loans to pay for my college degree and want to be able to repay them by getting a decent and stable job that i can do till i die! Opinions please!
I just got my BFA, so the next step is finding a freaking job. I’m doing the whole freelance thing, but the work I’ve been getting isn’t anywhere close to rewarding.
Where to go to find said job is another thing altogether, but one thing at a time I guess.
caliegirl has wasted today...
finished my degree 4 months ago!!!
was working in retail to earn money for an overseas trip, yet went to thailand, came back, and am pretty much still working full time! get me the hell out of retail and into my dream career!
I got a freelance job suddenly. I guess I will do freelance jobs until I find a full-time graphic designer position.
I was offered a part time position (25 to 30 hours a week) at a design firm. My job is mostly administrative, with design projects going on when I am not answering phones, organizing deadlines, and confirming prices. I don’t know how well I am going to do on the administrative end, but I hope to quickly excel at this job. :)
I don’t want to be a graphic designer anymore, but I already have a degree for it…
I think I need to at least give it a try. So hopefully by the end of this month I’ll have my portfolio together and I’ll start putting myself out there.
Ok, instead of chnaging this, I’m throwing out this goal and replacing it with something that combines all the possibilities. My new goal will be “Get a job I can love.”
I just changed this goal from “get a job in graphic design” to “get a job that makes me happy” and it’s cheating, because 33 people have cheered me on getting a job in graphic design, and now I’m pretty much starting a new goal with 33 stolen cheers… but it’s basically the same goal to me. Graphic design might make me happy… something else might make me happier… and I should take advantage of the opportunity to choose something that makes me happy instead of wasting my time pining over something that didn’t work that I’m too stubborn to give up… does this sound pessimistic?
How’s this – I can do anything now… so if I get a real job that isn’t what I origionally went after, that’s ok too, as long as I love doing it. And… it isn’t nice to say that retail is not real, because it’s just as much a job as anything, but I’m not counting that for me, because I hate it so much.
