more like… Standing in a shark tank, holding a bonnet head that was in tonic immobility. It was close enough to count, though. Standing waist deep in a tank full of sharks:-)
How I did it: I pursued my diving license at my local dive shop. It was 1 to 2 months for the class, the typical diving in a pool to build the skills. But to get the license you have to do real dive. I planned a trip to Hawaii, because that was on my father's list of goals and while there I did my four dives for my license. While diving i saw a number of black tip reef sharks swimming below and above me. It was amazing. I would like to continue diving and swim with other types or sharks as well.
Lessons & tips: Don't do your four test dives in a quarry somewhere. Make it an expereince that will instill a passion for continuing diving! And don't touch the coral! Please.

thebigtwosix is figuring out how to do all these things...
In a cage, of course.
My family was snorkeling in the keys and a 6 foot bullshark swam right under us. It was less than 3 feet from our fins and I snapped a picture of it with my underwater camera (unfortunately it came out blurry). Pretty cool, it really made our hearts pump. On the same trip we saw a good sized nurse shark and my brother posed for a picture beside it.
I want to do this, definitely! Sharks are my favorite animals ever and I want to have a closer encounter!
I swam with an Oceanic Whitetip in Egypt in 2006 (one of the Big 5) – one of the most breathtaking experiences in my life, really amazing to swim alongside something so big and dangerous yet felt so exhilerated. Was not scared at all even when it was only a few feet away….just felt a strange sense of peacefulness from him – so very graceful in the water :-)
dont you just think it would be soo kewl to swim with a shark!! that is definatly in my things to do before i die list lol
