RhoswenToo vague

I’m marking this goal done, even if I haven’t travelled much the last few years. It’s yet another vague goal that I don’t want to keep on my list. I would love to travel more in the future, but I’ll create new goals for that when it’s more likely that I actually can do it. 1 month ago

Ever mindfulFree trip to paradise

My sister in law won a free trip to the Bahamas. Her best friend could not get the time off from work, so she asked me. I didn’t mind being her second choice. I begged my boss to rearrange my schedule and pulled my passport out of the fireproof box. We went the week before Thanksgiving. The details were sketchy. I wondered if it was going to be goofy in some way. I was pleasantly surprised. We flew in a chartered plane with gourmet meal service, drinks, movies, etc. The resort we stayed at had several tiers of service from budget to top of the line. We were placed in a luxurious room with a balcony overlooking the bay. There were several events we had to attend in cocktail attire. I had no idea what to expect. The first night we made our way down to a cocktail party. We thought they would serve us a few appetizers and maybe a drink or two. There was table after table of food: sandwiches, desserts, salads. And there were half a dozen bars ready to make any drink imaginable – all top shelf. I couldn’t believe it. Just when I started to feel somewhat comfortable, Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas performed as the DJ. I felt like I was at a Hollywood party. It was absolutely nuts. We crammed a great deal of fun into a few days – walking the beaches, checking out the yachts, taking a water taxi to Nassau, nightclubs, casino. I came home to 20 degree weather…but I was tanned and happy. I will probably never experience something like that again. It was like something out of the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. 2 months ago

Hannah BassillScotland, September 2013

We rented a cabin for a week at Balquhidder Braes campsite, which was gorgeous! (The cabin was a 6-berth, called “Aladin” and we all highly reccommend it: http://www.balquhidderbraes.co.uk/accommodation/)

During our stay, we visited:
Stirling Castle
The town of Killin
The Crannog Centre (Kenmore, Loch Tay)
Oban, the distillery and a Sea.Fari boat trip
AND climbed the expert track (and camped on) Beinn Ghlas (in the Ben Lawers Range)

We had an amazing time, and I’d love to return to Scotland to explore some more! 3 months ago

this is really difficult for me because traveling just COSTS SO MUCH! I look at airfare, and even train and bus fare, on a regular basis, and it saddens me how I just can’t afford to go anywhere besides just around my state.

I do think I’m getting better by traveling around where I live, though. I live in Louisiana, and I’ve been to Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas just in the past year by driving!! Driving to destinations under 10 hours, especially with passengers and in an mpg-efficient car, is actually much less expensive than I previously imagined.

I hope to keep to the trend of traveling to places close by, and save up enough money to go to a big city, maybe Chicago or New York. I’d really like to leave the country, but with airfare at what it is…that might be a few years. 3 months ago
