How to travel more

How I did it: My aim was to travel more, and seeing as I'm fitting in as much travel as the working year allows me, I think I've achieved this! I looked for the cheapest airline to travel with, and booked flight tickets in advance, as the price seems to rise in time. I also planned ahead the best times to travel. It's incredibly exciting having something like that to look forward to, and there is of course the travel itself. I love finding, seeing and experiencing new places, sights, languages and people. It's made me more confident and less ignorant.

How I did it: I travelled for the first time from Ontario, Canada to South Carolina, US... and I did it alone! I took the greyhound bus, which is a very cheap way to get there (~1300 miles, only $140). It was a fairly long trip, with having 5 bus transfers each way, making the total trip for one way 1 day 16 hours. Yesterday I got my enhanced ID which allows me to travel (by land and water) from the US to Canada or Mexico. Because I’m in Washington I’m probably going to Canada next. I haven’t even had a proper ID for the last two years. it was nice to get more organized and get things done. I’m excited! I love to travel. I’m thinking road trip :) I’ve also started a savings account that automatically debits $75 a month. Hopefully these baby steps will help me get out more .

Although this city isn’t on my list, I will enjoy my trip to Oslo in October. There will be my birthday when we visit Oslo by ship and stay for one night in the capital of Norway. I’m looking forward to this short trip!

Also been to Dover castle recently, exploring all the grounds and tunnels (as many as you’re allowed to).
Ahh, can’t wait til November for our Norfolk Broads holiday! 3rd-7th on a fully heated cruiser, just sailing along at our own pace and taking in the sights… Bliss.

Went to Glastonbury again this year for Andy&my anniversary holiday. Did the usual Tor and Rifleman’s Arms but also went to Cheddar this time. Explored the caves which were GORGEOUS, had a cream tea, chatted to the people in the museum about flint knapping and friction fire lighting (and gave them some rather unwelcome advice as how to improve from our experience) and sampled the local cheeses <3 omnomnom!
Travel far and near

I know I don’t have the time or money to travel to all the amazing places I want to visit, but that shouldn’t stop me from visiting the places I can. I can alwasy spend a weekend in Portland or Canada and have a day trip to Bellingham. I could even take a week off and road trip down to California. Just because I can’t visit places by plane right now doesn’t mean I can’t go to other places; so I will try and plan for a weekend in Portland or a day trip to Bellingham.
