How to learn to drive stick
How I did it: My first car was a standard chevy camaro. I loved it but had no idea how to drive it at first. Everyone in my family wanted to teach me how to drive it. Mainly I learned from my Parents and my older brother. You just got to practice and get to know your car. You put your left foot on the clutch, and your right foot on the brake. When you are ready to drive make sure your car is in first gear. Lift your right foot off the brake and move it to the gas. At the same time, push down on the gas and lift your left foot off the clutch. Do it slowly! You will feel the car pull itself forward and then you just drive and you should be able to lift your foot completely off the clutch.
Once you get going you will want to shift gears or you can't accelerate. So when it is time to switch push the clutch allll the way down (and take your foot off the gas) and when you get into the next gear, accelerate again. Piece of cake!
Lessons & tips: Don't get discouraged. It's a little hard at first. All standards are different too. Some you have to come off the clutch a little faster and some are a little slower, but the mechanics are all the same. It's fun too! Don't stop on a hill until you get good at it, you will roll backwards!
Resources: My camaro, my brother, and my parents. Patience and Practice.

So….I think this goal comes from my love of sports cars. We spend a lot of time at auto shows and what-not (having grown up in Michigan by Detroit, it happens) and just knowing that I can’t drive more than half of those beautiful cars drives me crazy.
I will learn how to do this!!
my sister’s bf’s dad knows how to drive stick.

My Uncle gave me my first car which was stick, i started learning it, but then my dad found another car for me which was automatic, it also had working AC! Basically my brother took over the other car and i’ve been driving automatic since!

my mom tried to teach me but doesn’t really know how to tell me since it’s almost subconscious for her. so she gave up after i stalled it a few times. my dad refuses to even drive with me most of the time, but i would really like to learn this, because it scares me right now.
I’m seriously going to make my stepfather take me driving next weekend. For real. The last time I drove stick was a year ago and I want to be sure that I can do it on my own!
I have a roommate that wants to teach me – she’s got a standard car and is willing to go slow with me, so I have to set a time with her to do it. We agreed to practice shifting first.
Just relax do the motions on your couch for practice.Left foot slowly in on the clutch right foot slowly out off the gas.Put in gear then reverse motion. Its all timing.Once you learn you will want a stick forever or until you sit in bumper to bumper traffic commuting 60 miles at a time.I can help
