I finished The Sound and the Fury a couple of weeks ago, and I found some incredibly inexpensive copies of Absalom, Absalom and Go Down Moses, so I’ll probably read those two soon.

I love Faulkner, but this book was painfuly boring. I liked the concept of 7 short stories about a family and their land throughout various times. But it just doesn’t work for me. Their were momments of interest but very limited. Well written but dull. Gald to have it behind me.
I finished this last night. It’s a pretty interesting book. It reminds me of The Sound and the Fury in its depiction of a declining Southern family.
I finished As I Lay Dying just the other day, which brings my total to four. The other three were, in order: The Sound and the Fury, Absalom, Absalom!, and Light in August. I am currently about halfway done with Sartoris, and after finishing it I plan to read Go Down, Moses, before tackling the Snopes trilogy.
This is the 4th Faulkner book I have read (Sound/Fury, Light/August, Lay Dying). I have enjoyed them all. I found this a very enjoyable read. Although Faulkner uses Stream-of-consciousness it is not difficult to follow at all. It does leave on wondering why Harper Lee wasn’t sued for plagiarism when he released To Kill a Mocking Bird. The stories are very similar, and as much as I enjoyed Mockingbird, Intruder in the Dust is a far superior novel. I think Faulkner adds an extra element by making Lucas a dislikable character.
So far:
As I Lay Dying
A Rose for Emily
The Unvanquished
The Reivers
I’ve started A Light in August, and I plan to find a copy of The Marble Faun.
I got Requiem for a Nun, which is considered the sequel to Sanctuary. So there’s another one. WOO
Well I got Sanctuary from the Library. I’m reading it now. I’ll tell you about it when it’s done
