write a novel and not just any novel, a good, perhaps even brilliant novel

My goal is
to write and earn money from my writing.
i want people to enjoy what i write
eventually i would like my books to be deep enough for people to stir people deeply and give insight.

I want to write the next great american novel, but not enough has happened to me yet!

I haven’t written any fiction at all since I added this goal to 43things.com and in fact have been pretty slack at journal keeping in the last year. Now my writing is begining to suffer for it. As soon as I get a home I am going to start, I swear!

I learnt to read when I was six years old and I loved books right away and I knew writing was something I wanted to do. In a way I imagine I am destined to become a writer. When I was eight, according to family lore, I told my mom I wanted to be an “arthur.” I never said I could pronunciate but I think I can write. I obsess about plot lines and characters and titles and never actually write anymore. I pretty much stopped completely with fiction and poetry in 2003 and just journal without discipline now. I started writing a story about two weeks ago but haven’t finished it. I need to be serious about this because you sure as hell aren’t going to be a writer if you don’t do any writing.
