Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

G3OnautChange in plans....

My 1st Olympic is going to have to wait. I enjoy Sprints and plan on sticking with those for a while longer. My 3rd race of 2010 looks like it’ll still be in September, around the same time as the other. I raced this course earlier in the year and really enjoy it. Also, if I’m feeling spunky I might do another race on the 1st of October (that’ll make 4!!) and there’s always another in my home town in late October. Either way, it’s been a fun year and promises to keep me busy. 3 years ago

I’ve been swimming and weight training regularly, but if I’m going to be ready for my race in September, then I’m going to have to step up my cycling and running. 4 years ago


G3Onaut1st one of the year

I’ve got my first Tri of 2010 this Saturday. It is the Red Hills Triathlon, which calls itself the toughest sprint in Florida. The other day my wife and I drove the biking portion of the course and it will certainly be the toughest I’ve ever done. The hills are many…and a little intimidating, but I’ve been training pretty hard and believe that I’ll be ready come race day. Very excited!!! 4 years ago

It’s on! For 2010 I’ve officially registered for 3 triathlons. Two sprints in April and an Olympic in September. I’ve already started training and I’m looking forward to my first race of 2010. 4 years ago

I started training for my second triathlon today. I went for a nice 20 minute run to help brake back into the groove. Tomorrow I’ll be cycling for about 40 minutes. This week I’m picking up a 30 visit pool pass to get my laps in. I’m really excited. The race is in April, giving me about 4 months to get ready. It should be fun! 4 years ago

I did my first triathlon about a week ago, and now I’d like to plan on competing in at least two more. My ultimate goal is to do at least 3 triathlons a year. 4 years ago
