god, i am so rusty.
How I did it: I started playing piano when I was in kindergarden, but quit when I was in about third grade. I'm sixteen now, and I was getting annoyed with myself. I always seem to quit everything I start. So I decided this summer to start playing piano again. I was always really good at it, and I know that if I wouldn't have quit, I would have been so good by now. I started again, and am taking lessons. I'm really glad I picked it back up. Read how I did it…

today i sat down and played claire de lune all the way through since the judge gave me that….rating.
it felt….not good, but kind of….relieving? i’m not sure. i suppose i’ve just got to practice and such.

I did it! I have actually started playing again. I am practicing a bit everyday. I’ve begun with easy and fun pieces, and I’ve set up lessons for the summer. yeah!!!
I’m thinking of playing duets with my 10-year-old son, Malcolm; and playing “Bella’s Lullaby” with my 12-year-old daughter, Isabel. I love it!

When my children were young, I took piano lessons and loved it. One day, I just stopped – regular excuses – too much too do, etc. Now I’d love to start again…. I will be taking lessons again this summer and hopefully playing duets with my son. I love making music..
I played for a few years in middle/high school, but I hated practicing and I couldn’t find anything I was interested in playing. Now that I’m older I would really like to start playing again. I want to practice enough that I can learn to play some of the songs that my Grandpa composed before he died.
40mangotrees lives every week like its shark week!
I played for 8 years and even taught lessons of my own. Then I went off to college and had no where to practice easily – without a whole dorm being able to listen in. So, as soon as I graduate in Dec. I’m going to look into taking a few refresher classes somewhere.
Also, my Tae Kwon Do teacher asked me to teach his 5 year old a few piano basics. Hopefully this will bring back some of the passion I used to have for playing!
And teaching, too. Four students this spring. I hope I can figure out three nocturnes by the end of summer.
Since starting out this goal, I have learned various songs (mostly by ear) and have refreshed my memory with chords and whatnot. Definitely worth it!
I got my damn keyboard out of the cupboard a couple of months ago, but it had an English power adaptor and I couldn’t use it. So I went to Radio Shack and they had one for $40, which is too much! At least for someone as tight as me.
Anyway I finally went to a charity store and picked one up for $4 and I’m all set up to play my keyboard again.
I played for an hour and was relieved I can still read music to some extent. Had a great time.
I played the piano weekly until I was 15 and got to grade 3, played in public concerts and so on, it was fun and rewarding. I mess around making electronic music now but I would like to get piano lessons and start going up the grades again.
After that I want to start playing jazz.
Goal 1: Actually get my electronic keyboard out of the cupboard and set it up.
