Move to Key West for the Summer, then decide whether I want to live down there permanently. 7 months ago

I’m working every day to make it possible for me to move down to Key West. I already have a part-time job set up that I think I will enjoy. I have researched the medical facilities I will need while I’m there. (Still have to call them for more details.) Next item on the agenda is call the Rape and Domestic Violence shelters there for resources, as well as the Women’s Association. I will also call NAMI/ Key West to see if there is any housing information they can give me, as well as information about the support groups and other resources they might provide. I’d like to contact the gallery “7 Sisters” with my work, as well as the other store I went to whose card I have.

Nursing student possibly moving. 8 months ago

I’m just wondering if there will be a job for some with a CNA certification in the key west area. I’m coming down in October for my honeymoon and I need to know what the job market is like. Any tips or advise would be greatly appreciated. I’m currently in MI and if you watch the news you know that we have the highest unemployment in the country and it is now March 31 and I still have snow on my lawn!!!! I’M TIRED OF THE SNOW!!!!!

I went on vaca in Key West last summer (June ‘07) and fell in love with it. I understand that living there must be a lot different than going on a vacation, and sitting by the hotel pool or beach all day, but I loved the laid back feel of the island. I had it in my head that I would go down this past summer and check it out a little closer and think about moving there for a while, but met ‘the man of my dreams’ in january and forgot about my plan. Things are kind of rocky now, and although I want things to work out with him more than anything, I think that if it doesn’t, I will be buying a one-way ticket to KW.

I'm not the only one! :) 16 months ago

I am from and live in Minnesota. My best friend went to Key West for a part-time temporary job 7 years ago…he never came back. I’ve gone down to visit several times…just coming back 4 days ago. It’s time. I put in a month’s notice at my job…I’m packing the few things I have….......and in 25 days now I am finally moving to paradise! I had a moment of clarity at Fort Zackary Taylor beach…......I just realized that rush hour traffic, below zero windchills, snow, and bars closing at 1am is just not for me!

I’m so freaked out and so excited over this! I don’t know how long I’ll be there…a few months…a few years?....I don’t know…and I don’t care! I’ll never regret trying this, and giving it a shot!

To anyone considering the move…you already know you need to do it…...just find out how…and go for it! (Granted, I don’t have kids or a house…so it’s a little easier for me to pick up and move 2,000 miles away…)

Wish me luck….and good luck to all of you trying to live the dream of living in paradise….

i’m moving to key west in dec.!! that’s the plan anyway:) it’s something i’ve always wanted to do and i think this is the right time. i’m a conch, which means you were born in key west, (incase ya didn’t know) my dad lived there for many years working on sailboats and even went to captain college there. my mother went there on vacation with her girlfriends when she was about my age now,28,met my dad, went home to massachuesetts, sold everything and went back to key west. i guess you can say the rest is history:) i was born at key west memorial, and with a name like coral i never knew if i was conceived on a reef or named for jimmy’s band, lived the first years of my life on sailboats and a small apt. on washington ave. anyways life went on we moved to hollywood fl. i live in sarasota,fl. now and my parents have both passed away. they died very young my mom when i was 8 and dad was just last year. moving there just seems right. it is my hometown and all. i’ve started looking for apts. and making arrangements. i wish everybody the best of luck with every adventure you encounter and enjoy every moment. key west is a magical place:) it changes everything you know.

Move the family to Key West! 21 months ago

Actually, it was my husband’s CRAZY idea. He hates the month of March and every year near the end of Feb. he starts talking about how he wants to move to Key West. I always say “When the kids are grown and out, that’s where we will go” However, this year, I don’t know, I’m really starting to come around. He’s been looking at jobs online and I’ve been looking at places to rent. But I’m really torn. Our family is here in Delaware. I don’t know if I can handle the guilt of moving our 3 kids away from the grandparents. Its still a pipe dream for now but the pipe doesn’t seem so long anymore.

Sooner or later I'm moving to Key West! 21 months ago

My husband and I want to move to Key West so bad we can’t stand it!!! The problem – the price of housing!!!
We thought we found our solution – buy a trailer and pay lot rent but they won’t let us have our dogs!!!
AAAUUUGGGHHHH!
We gotta get our butts down to the keys – any inspiration or information would be appreciated greatly!!!
