after working the Scotties, this is something I definitely want to do
How I did it: I went to a learn to curl clinic and learned the basics!! It was super easy and I had my boyfriend who also wanted to try. Taking a friend to go is super fun, and the club was SO nice. It was an entire group of people learning for the first time! AMAZING
Lessons & tips: Get out there! Call local curling clubs and find out what they have!

now that I live in Minnesota I believe I am required by state law to either ice fish or play curling during the winter. Ice fishing involves sitting out on the ice, drinking beer, waiting for the fish. Curling involves standing on the ice, drinking beer, sliding a big heavy stone and sweeping. Screw the fish, I’m going for the rock and broom game.
Additionally Curling is one of those magical sports (along with Ice Hockey, Jai-Alai and Australian Rules Football) that are so bizarre that their very existence proves there is not an Intelligent Designer (or that if there is a God they have a really cool sense of humor).
Add to my To Do List: Try Curling (now where’s my broom).
The perfect mix of art and science. I had a lot of fun, but I’ve got to work on my technique.
I just joined a nearby curling club, and the Saturday night social league starts up this Saturday! I’m sooo excited!!
actually back in the spring, at the open house for the Detroit club. Still might be able to arrange for a full game, but if not, someone brought me back a tabletop curling set from Japan (surprisingly enough, curling is reportedly a huge fad there), so we’re set.
I can’t belive this is my goal with most cheers (well, techically a tie, but who’s counting). Do people cheer this because it seems easier to accomplish compared to, say, gaining weight (which is my no. 1!), or because they actually consider it “more important”? ;)
(Guess that could be a question for the random questions thingy.)
I would also like to invent a home version. like modify an air hockey or shuffle board table and use the rules of curling
