paint a picture on canvas

I’m going to start my painting for my boyfriend tomorrow. It’s of his Rottweiler dog, Lady. I’ll hopefully finish it by his birthday, March 7, but I also have my talented friend to help me. She’s made a business out of drawing people’s pets.

I don’t paint as much as I should but I’ve enjoyed each one that I’ve done. A few years ago, I made my Mom cry by giving her a portrait I did of my Great-Grandmother.

That was a cool moment.

A self-portrait is going to be next.

I’ve painted in acrylic, oil, watercolor (gouache, actually), and encaustic which uses melted beeswax as a meduim.

It’s fun, you should try it as soon as possible.

Baby steps, people.

I wanted to paint a picture on canvas for my bedroom. I love space and astronomy so that was the subject. I took 3 canvasses and put them close together and painted in hues of blue. I hung them about an inch apart from each other, slightly breaking apart the images I had painted. I’m not an artist, but it was fun and it’s something I can be proud of. GO for it!

The paintings are back home at my parents house, stowed in the attic.. I may go back there and grab them some day, maybe scan or photograph them to make sure they last a while longer. I used both acrylics and oil, almost having no idea what I was doing :D
Anyway, nowadays I paint digitally

There is nothing I love doing more.
