    Worth doing!

Uhhh….I did this during the day when I was supposed to be in class senior year of high school. Things didn’t work out so well for me. Stay in school. I mean…I was in school – I was just cutting. I have some great memories though, sigh. I loved getting lost on back roads, listening to psychedelic rock. I stopped the car one time on this desolate one lane road when I saw some deer, and let them listen to my music, and they just stood and listened…it was kinda neat. My other favorite kind of road are the ones in the summer that cut through corn fields, so that it comes right up to the edge of the road on both sides and you feel like you are being swallowed up…it’s scary and peaceful. A good road should never have lines painted on it. That’s what I’ve always said.

    Worth doing!

on the way home from a Drs appt, i just didnt feel like getting on the highway, so instead i drove straight on to a road that disappeared into a woodsy area of “town”. I had no real idea how i’d eventually make it home, but i know enough of generalities around here to sooner or later come to a street i knew of…
...besides, its fun to figure out if you can get to point A to point B without using a route youre already familiar with. :)

And i discovered a great way of avoiding major traffic jams around a certain MallComplex, got a pretty little drive thru a division of old houses and full-grown trees, as well as relaxing & not snarling about being stuck in rush hour traffic…

This long, quiet road would be so much fun to drive or pedal. And I would feel so revived when I reached the little country inn at the end of the road and stopped for lunch!

My kids and I do this about 3 or 4 times every year. I’m a city-boy at heart, but moved out into the boonies for a mixture of reasons. There are a Ton of backroads out here leading all over the dang place. Every one in a while, we just hop in the van and follow one for hours.

    There is only unplanned exploration.

Don’t be afraid to go left. Don’t be afraid to go right. It’s a round world; you’ll make it back eventually.

when your lost, erm i mean, exploring the wilder parts of Cornwall, you have to take the unexplored country roads just to get back home…

for instance my sister an I were going to find an ancient monument outside Penzance and we ended up at Lands End!! It was cool though.

Think the cows had a bit of laugh at our expense but that was more about the going up one side of the hill getting lost and walking down another side, only to realise we were lost because the sudden appearance of a field of cows, where once there were none, nice way to spend a summers day
