Just wanted to say this is a really nice goal :)

...you’d think I’d be able to.

Been doin it! 19 months ago

I met a super interesting fellow on the T the other day. We smiled at each other and struck up a conversation about the Keffiyeh he had around his neck; turns out that he’s part of Boston’s Stop the War coalition, and gave me some great information. By the time the train reached my stop we had a group conversation going! See what a simple smile can do? Keep spreadin’ the smiles! (:

smiling just makes you feel great, even if you’re having a bad day… i work in customer service, and even if i’m tired or grumpy, i’m still able to turn it on and give people the help and service they deserve. the best part is seeing how much people appreciate help and kindness, which is kind of sad if you think about it because it’s in short supply i guess :(

even if you’re not feeling happy, just put on a smile and you’ll see your whole outlook change. “fake it til you make it” so true!!

I do do this, though its sad when people don’t acknowledge your smile with at least a half smile back. My favorite is when I’m having a somewhat bad day or contemplating something serious and someone throws a smile my way. It puts and even bigger smile on my face when someone smiles back. Spread the smiles!

You jsut…do it. When you’re looking around the room , catch someones eye and smile. Not in a stalky way but in a nice way. They’ll probably come up afterwards and talk to you anyway ;) It makes you ALOT more confident.

For about 6 weeks now I’ve been working a summer job at a video rental place, and because of this I’ve been forced to work on my “customer service” (or “people handling”) skills, aka eye contact and smiling. I’ve gotten way better at work but still somehow struggle in other situations.

    Great idea 3 years ago

I simply love this idea! It’s like an easy thing that can make people smile and feel like used to see eachother somewhere, somehow :)

i’m actually growing to like this. it’s funny though, some people seem surprised and a little scared. little kids are easy though; mostly they’ll smile at anyone.

i keep trying to remember to do this more. unfortunately, this is more of a learned behavior for me than one in which i have natural aptitude.
