live in a tipi

Hello all, I want to give hope to you all that want to one day live in a tipi. About 2 months ago I started really thinking about living in a tipi. Then I took the plunge. Bought a tipi, got some poles put ads on craigslist and freecycle for a space to put it, and now I’ve been living in the tipi for a month so far. To all that want to do this I just want to say YOU CAN! I have started a blog to chronicle my journey, because when I was looking for more information about living in a tipi I could find much, and certainly not a journal of someone who was already doing it, so I thought this might help others, and it will be a good record for me to keep.

5’4 ” dia tipi made of white canvas. We have spent a few afternoons and evening sleeping in it so far. Preparing to build a 15’ tipi to live in.

I decided to buy a Tipi about two months ago..So I took the plunge and ordered a 20ft Tipi.. I live in Mendocino County California..I plan on Living in My Tipi on a friends 42 Acres until I find My own property in the area to move the Tipi to where I plan on Living in it until I build up a small Permaculture farm..Any Hints or tips would be greatly appreciated..:)

I had read an interesting article in Our State mag.(since then lost it) last year about a place near a lake in western NC where you could rent a pretty nice tipi, set up just like a bedroom with all the ammenties. Can someone tell me where that place might me. I would love to rent one for a few days. Thank for anyone’s response!

Would love to live a simpler life without all the headaches of a modern world. I live in a small town but own 12 acres out in the country. If I could just live my dream for a year I think I would be contented. Had thought about having a simple one or two room log cabin built but a tipi would cost considerably less. Well, maybe I’ll keep dreaming my life away or I’ll take the plunge. I give myself one year from now to make a final decision.

but the problem is that I cannot find a way of legally camping for 12 months in the UK. Even if I was lucky enough to buy woodland – I can still only live on my own land for a max of 28 days or some such crazyness!

IF you have any idea, let me know. I’m serious about doing it!

wanna build with a half section opening in the middle to the first floor about 3 meters up where the bedroom would be…details can be found later when the site, the construction and the pics are actully there :)....all bow to the tipi

Just for a few months. I’d like to spend some time living a more simple life and clear my head a bit.
