I highly suggest www.last.fm to anyone with this goal. Better than pandora.com by far…it tracks what you listen to, gives you recommendations, and finds you “friends” with similar taste – so you can see what they’re listening to. I’ve found a lot of new stuff I love now on the site. And, as if that wasn’t enough, you can play full songs (and for some artists full albums) 3 times on demand for free.

Set the account up and bought some music. It was fun to catch up with new music and download some stuff from high school. But, I didn’t get a chance yet to explore too much out of my comfortable genres.

You put in the name of a song or artist you like and it plays songs with similar music qualities.
sounds kind of like gomez in some ways. pretty good stuff.
also decided to listen to Gomez’s How We Operate, for good measure.
new Keane (under the iron sea) and Feist’s Let It Die.
i looked up feist because apparantly they will be playing in Victoria while i’m there next month. let it die was a pleasant surprise.
This is amazing! I found a link to it on someone’s Livejournal… fantastic tool for discovering new music. I thought it was interesting that most of the bands I chose used “minor key tonality,” whatever that is.
