SummitPete working on Life List item #1.
Want to climb it by way of the Northwest Direct route.
How I did it: I went slowly but steadily. I didn't train for it and I wasn't in shape. I was at least 50 lbs overweight and i'm only 5'3" but I'm strong and I made it!
Lessons & tips: Bring plenty of water. Pace yourself. Start early.
Resources: My husband was really supportive and stayed with me the whole way. Bring a good friend! Be sure to bring food, a hat, and stay hydrated!

WOW. Being that I am not one to take risks, this was quite an accomplishment! Between the “stairs” and the cables it was one Hell of a ride!!! I don’t think I would do it again, but I did it once (that is more than enough)
We are going on Saturday! Getting an early start, leaving at 4am hoping to be on the trail by 6am. - I think I should go to bed now! (I wonder if I can put coffee in my Camelbak!?)
Next photo will be from the top!!!
I walked 10 miles on Monday… 4.5 yesterday…. taking today off but still gettin’ ready…. 15th is the day!
Hiked up St. Mary’s Pass to Sonora Peak…. (August 5,2007) Elevation Kicked my butt! Elevation at top of Sonora Peak is 11,600’....WHAT A VIEW!!! (Sing along… I can see for miles and miles and miles!) Thankfully Half Dome is only about 9,600’...
...at top of Nevada Falls by 6, top of summit by 8:50am. Amazed by what human beings can do in a day. Didn’t feel afraid at all, because the “rock” is so big it lends a sense of security. Climbed it August 11, 2007.
My buddy is getting married and we’ll be climbing it next August as part of his bachelor party.
Hmmmm…..how do we find rock climbing strippers?
