Watched star wars last night. Tonight made sure to tune in the Tv station that is shot 3 blocks from my apt. Am watching a two week old Letterman. I fucking hate how much time I waste on TV, but it’s better than being responsible. I feel as if this winter has been pretty much worthless in my personal life…except for the phone calls and weekends with Jill. Gotta figure out something to do between Homecomming Golf Tourney and Easter Weekend. That’s 5 months out of the year I’ve pretty much been miserable. I want to play in the sun, not freeze in the crappy cold.
How to quit watching TV
How I did it: I grew up with the television as my closest companion. I was young and impressionable in the era of early MTV and shows like the Real World, Beavis and Butthead, etc. My social life revolved around quoting television and films with my friends. I slept with the TV on every night and spent countless waking hours watching it. The worst part is that when TV is such a big part of your life, you don't even care what you're watching anymore. It becomes an addictive way to just flush out your own thoughts and let somebody else take over.
Lessons & tips: Watch a documentary ( Jesus Camp is a good one) and compare the way that makes you feel to an episode of whatever new bret micheals or celebrity rehab show is out now. Then compare that to reading a book. get a whole book down and see how you feel.

never liked the crap they put on tv anyway. besides there are better things in life. like going out and doing something. taking a walk with yout significant other. get a hobby. so many things to do besides just sitting there.
This morning when I woke up I did not instantly turn on the TV. I turned it on a few mins before I left for work to get the weather for the day. Let’s see how the evening goes.
This is going to be much easier said than done. Anyone want to buy a television?
when I moved into an apartment where the only channel that I get is the Home Shopping Network. But I have realized that I am so much more productive and actually manage to get done more productive things. I still watch tv on occasion at friends houses and such, but I feel like I am loosing brain cells just watching it for any extended amount of time.
Over the years, I watched TV less and less. Now that I’m in college, I don’t even have a television. I don’t miss it.
Everyone once in a while, if I need to relax and kill a few brain cells, I go out to the lounge and turn on the tube. It’s a nice feeling to have to go out of my way to watch television… I know I’m not wasting time with it unless I really, truly want to be. =]
