Ka-zhing! 18 months ago

And someone has bought my bass. :) I am now 250 euros richer, yay! It helps a lot.
I’m still feeling a bit blue for giving it up, but I’ll live. It just wasn’t meant to be.
If I really feel like it, I can buy a new bass some day.

Goodbye, my friend 18 months ago

I just handed my bass to my mother, she’s taking it to the fleamarket as we speak. Some time ago I decided that I need to sell it, but right now I’m feeling quite sad. :c
I had that bass since October 2004 but I never really played it. So it’s better that I sell it and get some money from it. Instruments are meant to be played. I don’t think I’ll ever find the time to start practicing for real.
It’s a shame, really. But sometimes things just don’t work out. I’m sure I’ll miss having my bass around, but this will probably be for the best.

I got inspired to pick up my bass last night
and oh, I had completely forgotten how fascinating and beautiful the vibrating strings are. ♥
I just randomly played with them, urging them to speak and sing for me, to wake up from their long sleep. Now I really wish I had just continued playing when I started it years ago, I could be so good at it by now if only I hadn’t given up.
Sadly, I don’t think I still have the time to properly start playing again, it’ll have to wait another while. :z

National "Bass" Night Out 2 years ago

Got a chance to jam with some friends during National Night Out. We played for about an hour in a garage with a standing room only crowd of about 20 neighbors. Made up things as we went along, kids were dancing, got a couple of blisters on my fingers, had fun – doesn’t get much better. Just need to find a way to do this more than once or twice a year.

I <3 my bass, and i <3 music. 2 years ago

I play my bass every now and then. I’m 17, I should’ve began earlier. It sucks because I am a huge procrastinator. If i can try to learn at least on new song every day, and practice one old one, I should improve in time. I want to learn how to play Jazz, Indie, and Reggae. I’ll try to keep it up starting NOW!

poor thing's just gathering dust 2 years ago

I have been ignoring my bass for about two or three years now D:

I just can’t seem to find the time to properly start playing again ._.
Because I am still a complete beginner, it’s even harder to pick it up again. I’ve never had lessons but I’ve learned something by myself.

Hmm, maybe some day (when I have the money and the time) I’ll hire myself a tutor and go from there.

Last six months have been better 2 years ago

I stopped playing my bass (basses, actually, as I have collected a few over the years) about a decade ago. About six months ago I got a chance to help out some teenagers in a jazz band and it got me playing again. I also attend a jam session once in a while. Suddenly I am playing more, the fingers are gaining strength and I occasionally just pick up the darn thing and play. Need to stay on this goal for a while so I continue the good trend.

I have been a bass player for, gosh, twenty five years or so… I need to keep my chops up just as much as the next “guy”... I love to play, it’s just that I need to prioritize my time better : )
