808localgirl So if you care to find me, look to the Western sky...
If their tickets go on sale at midnight and you go online even 30 seconds later, they’re gone, so I’ve never been able to get to one of their shows. As long as I’ve been around, U2 has been around and have been a part of every milestone in my life. Best band in the world! I share their ideals of wanting to save the world and let’s face it, Bono is just all kinds of cool! I’d love to tell them how much their music and their beliefs have inspired me. I may just have to fly to Ireland and meet them on their home turf because I’d have a better chance of doing that than getting concert tickets!

i live nearby. only a half hour by train. u2 were playing at madison square garden. this was my 4th time seeing them on the tour. it wasnt my last either. =) anyway, i cut out of school early and headed down to the city with my friends before the concert. we stood by the gate by the truck entrance at madison square garden. a black suv pulled up, and out of the back seat comes bono. i pulled my october vinyl and my sharpie out of my bag and held it out to him. he looked at me and then back at the album cover and in his thick dublin brouge he said, “jesus christ look at me.” then he laughed. then looked back at me and asked if i was excited patti smith was opening tonight because he was. i dont remember my answer. i was too much in shock that this voice that i knew so well was speaking to me. he signed the vinyl and shook my hand and proceeded down the line. it may have only been a minute or so, but it was the most amazing minute of my life.

From everything I’ve read and the interviews I’ve seen, Bono (the front man for U2), is one of the most intelligent and compassionate entertainers out there today. (Not to take away from those like Sting, and the various movie stars, but being a huge U2 fan puts him at the top of my list). I think it is increadible that these guys are taking the time to help make this a better world for the rest of us. I’d like to take an hour, sit down with him, and find out the who what when and why of his goals. It’s just fascinating and I want to help out.
Maybe one day, I’ll get the chance.
