I have already bought two tickets for Macbeth next Sunday. I am glad I did it, it is so simple, and I keep postponing it.

How I did it: It is also very easy, since it is opera season in my city. Look for the schedule and decide to do it. When you buy the tickets, it is done. It was easier for me because my husband wanted to go too... Read how I did it…

How I did it: dig in! do some research to find opera productions in your community or as close to it as possible.ask family and friends to help, have any of them attended an opera? do you know anyone who can tell you a bit about operas or who might want to go along with you and share the experience. How I did it: I bought the season "subscription" for two seats in the Grand Tier (not quite nosebleed, but nearly!) section. That meant I got to go to each performance, but at a fairly reasonable price. I loved the music; the spectacle; the variety and the overall experience of dressing up to attend. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I saw "Aida" at the Ordway Theater in St. Paul, Minn. I was super sick that day and in 9th grade, so the experience wasn't great. Two years ago I saw "The Lay of Prince Igor" at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Russia. Amazing. Absolutely blew me away. This fall I saw Tchaikovsky's dramatization of Pushkin's epic poem "Eugene Onegin." Musically good, really interesting staging too. Read how I did it…

How I did it: Went to see Stauss' Salome last night. It's quite a difficult opera, I think. I have some issues with Strauss, but am a great fan of Oscar Wilde, so I thought I'd give it a go. It's an interesting work, with a phenominally challenging soprano lead, I think. I am, I'm afraid, a bit of a popularist when it comes to opera though, and find it difficult to beat a good bit of Mozart of Verdi. As always, the theatre was far too hot, which means I… Read how I did it…

The last time I went to an opera I was almost a kid. I would love to try it again. There is this opportunity this week. I should by the tickets today or tomorrow morning :)

The last opera for the season in Atlanta is the Flying Dutchman; our tickets are for this coming Saturday.
I’ve seen this opera before, but I know I will still enjoy it – and I’ve had such a good time with this year’s season tickets, I believe I’ll get another season subscription for next year.

I recieved free tickets to the Orpheum Theatre and went last night (the theatre was beautiful and I like the mini performance group during intermission who juggled, played violins, sang, etc in the lobby areas). It was my first opera experience and it was fun (especially since I went with 4 friends). All I can say is, thank goodness for the translations screen!
The best quote of the night (during an intermission) was from these older guys sitting behind us: “Whaddya think about the play, John?...Well, it’s no rock concert” – haha!

We went to see this opera today. And all I can say is that was a very good experience but I definitely won`t be a fan of operas;) I loved the voices, the way actors played and the story itself but together with SO we ended up a bit bored and tired.
All in all – nice to know, nice to visit, nice to experience;)

We went to the Sunday performance this past week; it was lovely! The music was beautiful, and the singing and production were the best they’ve done so far this season.
The opera itself is a tragedy – the leads all die – but the plot line makes that philosophically fine (if you don’t treasure life; if you’re totally irrational and define yourself externally by artificial constructs – well, hell, it’s not like you were really living as a sentient human so death is no big loss).

Well, I’ve gone and bid on some Opera tickets, and mine was the winning bid. Looks like I’ll be seeing the Barber of Seville in April!

I can`t believe it! SO booked two tickets and we`re going to the opera on March 15th! _ It was supposed to be a surprise but he was so happy that those tickets were still available that he couldn`t sit quiet and told me:P I don`t know the title though. I`ve decided not to check – surprise is a surprise;)
