donate 1 gallon of blood

A pint of blood is taken at donation. 8 pints equals a gallon. I gave once this year so I have 7 donations to go. This might take me awhile cause I keep chickening out! But I have donated once and I vow to keep doing it. There are a few drives between now & Halloween so I am really going to try to do this soon.

I love tattoos. A year has finally gone by so I can donate again but I want to get a new tattoo soon. I will see how much I can give in between tattoos. I may be 65 before I finish this.

i made my third donation on thursday to the red cross. they perfforated my artery and i bled into my arm. now my dominant hand is out of commission for two weeks. BS

8 pints of blood—and since I recently got my nose pierced I don’t believe I can donate for at least 6 months. Need to check the stats on that. Still a good long term project.

I have now left the ranks of 70% first time donors; I have given blood a second time. I will be able to give it again on June 9th, 2009; however, I believe I will wait and give it during the Boys State Week at their Blood Drive. Unless they’ve finally listened to me and abandoned that practice.

There is a blood drive in town 4/14 from 3-8pm. I will donate there.

I’ve gave blood right before I went to Africa last year. I’m pretty sure I can give blood again as it’s been over 8 weeks and I did not have any relations with drug addicted prostitutes or needle sharers whilst in Africa.

So I guess 7 more pints to go.

So I made my apt today. I went. I brought a friend who I signed up to go with me aaaaand… I was anemic. ha! So I couldnt donate today. It was the first time I’ve been denied so I was actually shocked. Kind of ridiculous.

I told the woman that my friend was going to laugh at me because she had been denied before and was worried she wouldn’t pass, She declined going with me in the past because of that but I teased her enough about it that I talked her into it anyway. When she finally came out of her interview before her donation she laughed and said she was denied too. We’re going to try again next week. hopefully we can get a start on this then. :D

Actually, I’ve passed it by a couple pints, but that was spread across two different collection organizations. Since I started my term of VISTA service at the Red Cross, I’ve given 3 times, putting my total up to 7 pints here, and 3 at another location (from college). Today will be my 8th pint donated to the Red Cross :)

It’s handy when you just have to walk down the hall a few yards!

I’ve given blood in so many different places, I’m not sure how I’ll know I’ve hit this point. I know I gave 2 or 3 times in college, plus twice at the big red bus at the school I work at, twice at scheduled appointments, once at a renn faire…I guess I may have already given a gallon in my lifetime, but I’ll go by my “official” count at the local blood bank I donate with now.
