I spend more time actually gardening and not just reading about gardening.
If I I buy it I need to put it in the dirt.
I finish one area before I move on to another.
I clean up after myself, putting all tools and stuff away before I get tired of gardening.
As always, green and organic.

I like to garden, but don’t take the time right now. And since it is winter, nothing grows. But the house we live in is a rental and I hate to put any money into the grounds. The last 4 years I have made some improvements, but am wary of too much. I hope to make a raised bed for spring so I can at least do some veggies. I’d like some help just getting started with the raised bed idea, or others. I’m in the Pacific Northwest, so rain is a given.

I have rich soil, lots of earthy worms and wonderful seasons. I should be able to do this. But every crispy summer that rolls around kills it all. And I can never settle on a landscaping design, or I never have enough money to actually make it all happen. Every year that goes by leaves me feeling more guilty.

My grandpa loved to garden. He was a farmer back home and he had a special talent with earth. I loved him very much and I often wish he was here to teach me how to tend to my plants.
I was weeding the backyard today and I felt good. I want to be a better gardener because I still want to connect with my grandpa. I imagine him with me…tending the earth by my side.

Well, it’s autumn again and the plants are starting to calm down and get ready for winter. My grandparents’ trees are beautiful. The lavendars are great and daylilies are starting to look a bit autumn-y. It’s all good. Now the main task will be watering every couple days and then raking the leaves in the spring (i’m taking a bunch of them out of my area now and then). Oh, and the rose is beautiful.

you will find there is so much more to learn and do as a gardener! I am now a horticulturist and yet I’m constantly learning new things, new techniques, new plants, it will be a lifetime goal but well worth the journey :)
Happy gardening!
