I did a semester course, it is well worth the investment.

Makes Outward Bound look like the Girl Scouts.
I went on the three-week horsepacking trip across the Absaroka mountains in Wyoming. One of our horses died on the trip, if that’s any indication of its difficulty.
I did NOLS Pacific Northwest Backpacking last summer, and it is the one thing I am most proud to have accomplished!
that’s what i got on my nols course. a good, old-fashioned ass-kicking. it was the hardest thing i’ve ever done, and it wasn’t pretty but i got through it and i’m proud of that.
of my life. I took the Baja Sea Kayaking course in January of ‘00 and learned more in that one month than in all the rest of college. It was a life changing experience. I learned some important skills and I learned a lot about myself. I would love to take another course now that I’m more mature!
I did an Alaska Sea Kayaking course and it was absolutely amazing. The instructors were awesome, the other students were really cool, and you can’t beat being in Alaska. If you ever get the chance to do a NOLS trip, jump on it – you won’t regret it.
Went on an Alaska Backpacking OE course and it was memorable in that I learned a lot about improving my hard and soft skills. The NOLS folks are very thorough and help you fine tune your leadershp skills while enjoying the outdoors. We had classes, hiked mostly off trail, and it was an overall great experience. I think I will do a semester and maybe summit Denali in a few years.
