Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

HarmonyExtra kit

Back when this was something I really wanted to do and kept failing a couple of friends actually sent me SeaMonkey kits. One of those is the one I previously got to work for me, and one was sitting unused. So, I decided to start a new family of SeaMonkies with the new kit.

Its going to be in the mars aquarium of one of my past failed attempts. I started it a bit ago and just fed them for the first time yesterday. So far so good =) 4 years ago

HarmonyGetting Started

I got the kit in the mail yesterday and last night at midnight I put some room temperature bottled water and the #1 packet of water purifier into the little moon tank. I went to a site that had more in depth instructions than what comes with the kit because I accidentally killed the first ones I tried back in january I think because I didnt understand the directions. So, at noon on Friday I can do the next step. I’ll update then. 4 years ago

VioletMyst still believes that Unusual traveling instructions are dancing lessons from GodRemember Sea Monkeys......??

oh, how i remember those ads in the back of my Archie Comics magazine! And eagerly awaiting the arrival of the magic sea-monkeys in the mail…!

and then that awful sour smell of brine shrimp in a mason jar a month later….7 years ago

im going to try and get them in england when i go this weekend 7 years ago

christinetOMG I remember

I was so young then and still believed in magic and I even got a magnifying glass to see if they really looked like the pictures they had on the back of my Archie comics 7 years ago

i changed my mind…. sea monkeys are boring. they all died for no reason and then sombody hatched some eggs and i have more again… but ive completely lost interest. 7 years ago

Breeits a done deal

they’ve hatched and are starting to get all big.
they are actually sort of cute, considering they are brine shrimp.
i guess the trick is to barely ever feed them and pour the tank water into a container and back into a tank a couple times a week to get oxygen into the water. horray!

lets see how long they last. 7 years ago

i have having UNBELIEVABALY great difficulty buying sea monkeys. i have tried all pet shops, aquariums and toy stores! i wanted to buy some for me and my friend and that was supposed to be for her b-day in january!! im stuck! whre where where????!!! 7 years ago

Breesea monkeys day one

well, i got my tank today. i ordered it from and it came quickly which made me happy… but now im waiting 24-30 hours for the water purifier to “prepare the proper formula balance for the baby eggs to hatch and grow.” lame! 7 years ago
