Nature is the most beautiful free art in the universe..
AwakenMe is taking things one step at a time
How I did it: I have been walking a lot lately. Almost daily, and have had countless chances to adore the beauty of nature. Yesterday night I got to walk home a friends and see the trees slightly lit by the street lamp. I always find things look divine at night. Its just so beautiful. Today I walked to the waterfront and pass saw a lot of flowers and over grown lots on the way. It reminded me of how the lots got in the country in the summer. The water … Read how I did it…

but I am always in constant awe when I do so. Take this morning, I was coming home from downtown and the night bus stops about 5 blocks from my house. Anyway, walking down such a busy street its amazing how quiet it is at 3am. Anyway, there are certain areas that contain a lot of trees and such and they looked so beautiful in the limited nightlight. Its just the small things in nature that take your breathe away and I love the feelings of peace I get while zoning away from the artificial things in life to focus on the lines and shapes of a tree, the scent of a flower or even the shapes of the clouds. Its such a gift yet I don’t take enough time to value it. This is something I would like to gradually spend more time doing.
... and went on several walks through the forest. We even started gathering mushrooms! We spotted many we didn’t know but that looked very interesting (which does not necessarily mean edible). In the end, we decided to eat only two that we were very sure about. Delicious! I’d love to live in the countryside… although I know that it is not only romantic and peaceful but might be tiresome in the long run because of lack of infrastructure and long commuting hours every day.
I went camping with my girlfriend and about 30 others somewhere in east sussex. It was nice to be out in the woods but I have to say that where we went was not as scenic as I was hoping for. But I did just enjoy leaving the urban sprawl. A robin would greet us every morning as it looked for food scraps. My girlfriend had never camped before and she thought the cocophany of birds first thing in the morning was a bit mental.
angiem357 wondering why stupid food has stupid power over me!
I’m not sure if I can ever really mark this as “done,” because I see this more as a continuum type thing, rather than an “okay, it’s done” thing.
When I feel too claustrophobic in the city, when I feel stifled, or when I feel too stressed with the traffic, I can always go just a few miles outside of the city and enjoy the almost-inaudible din of traffic.
There are even small pockets of natural land inside our city. The noise persists, however. Meh.
I love being outside. I love to water my garden every morning and linger around outside. I visited the beach twice last week and spent hours there, half under my umbrella, half under the sun, it was great.
I think I am out in nature enough now, it wasn’t happening as much in the winter and I was really missing out on the sunshine. I think I am doing okay with this goal for now.
Done.
I used to walk in the woods several times a week. It was revitalizing to my body, spirit and mind. I miss it. I never make time to go to the woods any more.
I love to watch the birds. I love the smell of the woods.
I hadn’t thought until just now how wonderful that experience was for me. It would be healing for me to pick up the habit of going to the woods again.
I went camping eight times this summer and it was perfect. Oceans and forests and mountains and tents and beer and dogs and friends.
Get a camping guide and go.
To celebrate my bday. I am going to take this opportunity to suggest another walk on the beach.
Tea, and then a walk on the beach. I am sure she won’t mind since she always wants to stay along the coast.
Yesterday I went to the beach for about 30 minutes. It was a wonderful gray day and cold too!! There were still people surfing, jogging and sitting in the sand. I walked a while with my shoes off and it felt good.
