I asked for all the directions and helped navigate a lot, based on what I remembered of the city layout.
We’ll probably go back to the usual M.O. now though. ;-)

our walking in the wrong direction for several blocks when we were already late for the Chinatown bus in New York. I was totally at a loss and couldn’t take responsibility for where we were going, so my response was to get mad at Ross. Of course. I know this is very much a learned helplessness thing, and it’s the same with driving directions. I trust that he’ll take care of it and I don’t want to spend the time to look at a map because it takes me so much longer to make sense of them than it does him. But since Ross is perfectly comfortable with a “pretty sure” sense of the route, and knows how to handle things if he gets lost—and I really want to feel completely certain of things and get in a kerfuffle when I get lost – I need to do this.
