Want to put my engineer hat on and build my pc from the motherboard up. The rig is for my kids to knock around with and play games, surf the net and digital photography editing.
Needs graphic horsepower and lots o storage!
How I did it: Way back in 2006, I built a PC in less than one day. The best days are when you're not busy "Like Saturdays."I bought a book named "Build Your Own PC, 4th Edition" by Morris Rosenthal which was published in 2004.Then I ordered parts online, put it together and then installed Windows Vista Ultimate Beta. The two most helpful things you need to know: newegg.com & google.com. I realize the irony of directing you to websites when you are talking about building a computer; without a computer you can’t access the internet. Go to the library, or a friends house. You can find everything you need to know about this on Google, then order your parts from Newegg. Newegg is not always the absolute cheapest, but usually they are. They have a good selection, good customer service, and great shipping. I have made a lot of money fixing computers for people by showing up, searching google about their problem and then following the steps for the fix. The crazy thing is, even when I recommend this to the people that want to pay me, they still ask me to come.
Mine is still running today, upgraded it a few months ago. Its fun and pretty easy
I built my own miniature pc. The case is a £3.99 box folder from WH Smith, with holes cut out for the cd drive, 4×20 lcd screen and the backplate. In the image I had not yet cut the holes so the internals hang out when being used. I have yet to mount the 8” screen in the lid. The whole thing packs away perfectly into the folder, including the mouse and keyboard.
giving up this goal. we’ve become laptop people in this house, and it’s not going to change anytime soon.
