It’s soooo hard to get out of bed early during the cold months! It’s just so cozy and warm in my bed, feels so good… compared to the shock of the cold room after exiting the covers! :(
Regardless…it’s no excuse. Just because I prefer the mornings, doesn’t necessarily mean I must do this in the mornings. There are plenty of other opportune times I could be doing this, I just need to recognize one and then seize it!

How I did it: I take a few minutes every morning to run through the sun salute, at least once, sometimes two or three times if I have the energy and the time. It really helps me to get the stiffness out of my body and get me moving. Read how I did it…

Morning Song is changing her life one habit at a time
I’m starting a new job next week which will shorten my daily commute. It will give me some extra time in the morning to practice yoga. I am making preparations by placing a mat right by the bed. This way I can roll unto the yoga mat right out of the bed in the morning, starting next week :)

I’ve started doing a series of sun salutations on waking up in the morning. It’s not really a full session of yoga, but it is quick, short, and easy to incorporate into my morning routine.
I’m looking to expand this to a more full session.
So, I fell out of the habit when a certain someone started taking up my mornings… but, I’m trying to get back in the habit.
I had a dream that I was able to lay my head down on my knees and in my dream, that felt so cool – i have to work harder to get there!
I was up this morning and stretching by 6:45 and it felt great. Must keep it up!

Still going strong. You know, I’d thought I’d have trouble remembering to do it every day, but even on evenings where I would have liked to forget about it, I always remember…

is a great boon for the practice! This lovely morning, I went for a walk and then set up my mat in the backyard. It was such a perfect morning for it. Wonderful!

Despite traveling to a conference this weekend and keeping crazy hours, I have not missed a day yet. Go me! I did five each of the Ashtanga Sun Salutations in my hotel room while I was away, and went to a class at the gym when I got back. I won’t be crushed if I miss a day, but I’m not going to let myself make excuses for why it is okay to skip today.
You know, I’ve been meaning to stick to a daily practice for years, and I’ve avoided it because I thought it would be so hard. I thought I would have to plan and schedule and make a big deal of it. But really all I have to do is do yoga today, and keep doing that. What a concept!

Today interruptions helped me realize how private and personal I feel my yoga practice is. So, while I DO want to teach yoga, I know that I also need my own personal practice, uninterrupted. Which is sometimes difficult, finding time that is peaceful and alone. I guess I don’t feel ready to complain too much though … in a few years the kids will be graduated and interruptions will be too few and too far between!

I was seriously considering not doing yoga today, but after dinner I put in a DVD and did yoga with Elizabeth (and Rodney Yee, that sadist). I can do this.

Have been successful this week. I’m feeling really good about my practice these days. Also, my newfound desire to teach has brought about a new mindset which is also inspiring deeper sessions. Wonderful!
