I have done this before, back in college. At that time, it wasn’t about traveling but about having a cheap place to live. Our RV was ancient and not particularly mobile. Plus, I lived with someone who I wasn’t very happy with. Now, I am very happy with the person who shares my space, a space that is already fairly small, and we both are embracing the idea of “fulltiming” with serious gusto! We both want to travel and reduce our footprint as we go. It’s a surprising and unusual choice, I realize, especially for folks nowhere near retirement age, but I think it’s one people may start making more often, especially as our society becomes more and more mobile and the economy keeps spiraling downward, making home ownership a less wise choice than before.

A few years ago, I had an obsession with living in an RV. I bought a tiny little plastic RV with re-arrangeable furniture, I read a book about full-time RVing cover to cover, I collected brochures and fantasized about the models I liked most. This RV has reminded me of that dream; look how beautiful it is inside. The rig even runs on vegetable oil. They pick up old grease from restaurants and run the engine on it.
