lovika is working hard to meet her goals
I am by no means a master crocheter, but I now know the basics and will probably continue crocheting from time to time, especially shawls and maybe a pair of gloves…
How I did it: I used online resources to help me figure out how to make more complicated stitches easier. I think the site I used was freepatterns.com. I also used Lionbrand.com for a lot of their patterns, they have some of the cutest things that are easy to make. Online resources really helped me but I also recommend the book "I taught myself crochet" or something like that to help you if you learn better by seeing than just reading. Some sites have videos as well but I don't remember which it was... maybe videojug.com.
Lessons & tips: I have found the hardest part for most people to learn was the beginning chain. There's a technique that some do that starts as 2 chains and you work across those two... I don't remember what it's called. I can also say that crocheting honestly gets a bit redundant if you're working on a larger pattern. I would say if you're working on a larger project take a break after a while and work on something small, like a washcloth, or granny square something or other.

And I really like it. Loved the yarn too – lace weight from handpaintedyarn.com.
Next up: A rustic, traditional cotton shawl in undyed yarn.

Ok so this is a goal that I want to do before I do another goal which is make a baby blanket…
I started last night ( alittle later then I anticipated but shit happens…)
I got a hang of it pretty quickly and I think it’s because I got a wonderful instructional video from AC moore that plays on my computer…
My only thing that I’m having problems with is that I have so much homework and things to do for the women student union… and I’m taking care of my Grandma, so unfortunately it’s been stop and go.
While I’ve learned crochet and completed projects, this is an ongoing project for me. There’s much to learn.
15/09/08 I am following a Crochet course at the moment and I am very pleased about it.
16/06/08 I haven’t finished the pullover yet. I have made a small bag/purse for work and 3 hats for winter. I had started a wrap but I am running out of wool. I wonder if I shouldn’t make a sleeveless vest instead, or a hat/scarf/bag set.
Long ago, my grandma tried to find a cure for our bored days after school and when it rained. I was teh only granddaughter who showed little interest she taught me. Well, I forgot for almost 7 years until I saw a book at Walmart that said would teach me in a short time. Since I had a foundation already I decided to pick it up again thinking that if I was crocheting tehn I wasn’t eating. Well it helped me lose 10 lbs and I’m picking it up again. I haven’t made anything too big ex cept for a blanket I made for my grandma for Christmas. But now, I wanna be really good at it. Wish me luck!
I have made two blankets/ afghans and countless hats and scarves. I have bought so much yarn they should have my picture hanging in every craft store over a sign that says “just say no”. Iam currently working on another throw to snuggle in on the couch. My brother is trying to get me to start an etsy page because he seems to think that there are people out there that would like my work… I told him I had a whole lot more to learn before I got to that point.
I have started a pullover.
16/03/08
I have done the front and the back and am now at the sleeves. I had to add different colours as I ran out of the main one.
I have started a hat. The threads need tucking in and it is done!
