I stopped watching all other reality t.v. except for American Idol. Even with it, I do not obsess over taping it or staying home when it is on. I don’t really miss any of the other shows. My reality is much better and more interesting to me than most of the crap I was watching.

This summer, I only indulged in one guilty reality pleasure: Beauty & the Geek, which was entertaining enough, but I’m not sure I’ll follow it to the second season. To be honest, going without reality TV felt pretty good. I’m planning to watch the new seasons of America’s Next Top Model and The Amazing Race this fall, but I’ll be cutting out The Apprentice, due to a scheduling conflict with my newest obsession, Lost. I’m not sure if replacing my reality-TV obsession with scripted-drama obsessions is really an improvement, but I just don’t think I’m ready to add “give up TV altogether” to my list of goals.
