This will be a kawaii garden party in my lush backyard. I will ask everyone to bring their favorite tea bags to be added to like a goody bag so everyone can go home with new bags of tea to try. And I would most likely get different lose teas so every can try something new. Also baking is a must at a tea party!! Tea and cakes.

I hosted a bridal shower for my friend Ally, who loves mismatched china. When I sent the invitations, I requested that each lady purchase a mismatched cup and saucer to bring and use at the party. I have a set of china, but I liked the idea of using mismatched ones to honor Ally’s love.
In addition coffee (very important in Seattle – every lady had one cup before we got started, and they dove into the tea later), teas of all kinds, and water, I had fruit, sandwiches, scones with fake devonshire cream and jam and tiny raspberry muffins.
For sandwiches I made traditional cucumber on white bread with tarragon butter, chicken salad on mini croissants and ham, Havarti and cream cheese on raisin bread. For fruit I had strawberries, grapes, apple slices and bananas.
It was a huge success. One of my favorite parts was using real sugar cubes, which I put in one of my own mismatched teacups.

This is so random, but I think this would be fun. It’s nice to do something different for your friends.

I had my tea party this afternoon. The first thing I can cross off my recently developed “Things I Want to Do Before I Die” list! There were 11 of us, and it was such a lovely afternoon. I served three different kinds of tea, two different kinds of scones, and gingerbread cake with a lemon sauce. My friends brought brie and crackers, grapes, biscotti, and cucumber sandwiches. The ACC championship was on, so we watched it at a low volume while enjoying tea. :)
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve gone to a few different thrift stores to obtain some teacups and saucers. I found some great pieces for very cheap, and I also found a beautiful lace tablecloth. A good friend recently suggested that a good way to do a first tea party would be to ask everyone to find a used teacup and matching saucer to bring and leave with the hostess. Or to bring and give away to someone else. I’m very excited to have the odd and end ones that I found, though, so that I can do this again. I’d be just as happy with mugs, though, too.

Tea hangover

Just finished hosting my first real tea party, and my guests and I had so much fun. I am so glad I thought of it, although next time, I’m going to try my hand at making real petit-fours. The hats were fabulous and the conversation was priceless. A terrific way to show appreciation for the friends that mean so much.

Kicking off a new tradition on Valentine’s Day to show appreciation to my friends. Tea is my newest hobby; I’ve finally managed to dip my foot in the waters of something besides plain Lipton, and I’m pleasantly surprised. Chocolate caramel chai is my new favorite.

How do you have a tea party when you’re in law school and so are all of your friends? We have so little free time, nad I live so far away from everyone else. I’m not sure how this will work.
