oh well, back to square one…
but it is ALL worth it.
How I did it: I worked a full time and part time job for a while, lucked out and got a deal on a nice apartment for extremely cheap.I also have 2 checking and 1 savings accounts.I calculated all my regular monthly expenses (groceries, bills, gas, gym membership etc) and made a checking account just for payments, the other account is money I can spend. That way, I don't spend money I don't really have.I put a little over half of my paycheck every week i… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I have always been frugal and a good saver, but now that I'm at a "grown-up job" after college, making a real salary yet still with very low living expenses, I am able to really save hardcore. Even though I'm making a lot more money than I ever have before, I haven't changed my spending habits, so I'm able to put that extra money away, into savings accounts, a Roth IRA (soon), and a 401k. How I did it: I wish I had a great story for this goal, but I don't. Thanks to Uncle Sam I was able to reach my $5K goal. I was going to spend half and save half, but I decided to save it all so I could reach my goal! I'll keep saving on a regular basis to continue building my nest egg!! Read how I did it…
How I did it: Started a Savings account to keep my savings in. That way, I knew I wasn't allowed to touch it. Gave myself a maximum of $20 per week entertainment money. Read how I did it…

i’ve got $2245, but i’m going to have to buy a french horn for band…

When I was organizing my weekly banking and checking all my pays had gone through, I decided to transfer $1000 into my savings account. It was just sitting in my every day account, and I don’t want/need to use it, I’ve just liked seeing the, cough, larger numbers on my transaction records. But putting it in the savings account, will earn me some extra interest on it which will help.
It’s a simple action, but an action nonetheless.
I’ve saved $1500!
although, I hit a stupid car in the carpark at a shopping centre and will have to part with $900 of that very shortly. BOO!!!

RAWK!!!! I feel so awesome for finishing this. But I have to start all over again because this is going towards a new roof that is badly needed and a new car to replace the one that got wrecked last month. :`( But it’s ok because I know I can do it again!
I actually started this in January and so far I am at $2800. No rush. Just something I was trying to do by the end of the year.

YAH!!! Too bad half of that will be going towards a down payment on a car in about a month. Boooo! Hissss!

So we’re down a bit, but it was a lot lower. Had to dip in because of me having surgery and not working for a while. But we’ve bumped it back up and we’ll make our $5000 mark no matter what I have to do to get there!

to do this, so i can be with you.
when the time comes, i want to be able to afford us. i know you want to pay for everything, i know you want to take care of me – but i want to contribute also.
realistically, i have four years to do this in. i feel that it is plausible.
NOW, for a job…
