Clean often here and there instead of doing it altogether.

The main way this works for me is to not let it ever get dirty. So pick up anything that’s been left out every morning. Wipe the kitchen and bathroom services after every use, and when I go in and find Brendan has not wiped up behind himself just do it myself so it’s clean. Wipe up any spills etc as soon as they happen.
Even then it takes me 3 hours on a Saturday to go through the entire place. Dust and wipe everything, every ornament, every surface, every book. Sweep and wash all floors. Disinfect kitchen and toilet surfaces.
This is doable living with just one other person :)
tomkat67 's dreams are bigger than the obstacles.
I am so not doing well on this. I came to a big realization about it. I, and my girls, just have too damn much stuff. I’ve been studying about William Morris (again) and his most famous quote is “have nothing in your home that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful”. There are things in my home that could have been useful and/or beautiful, but are sitting in a corner wasting space. The question is what is important enough to keep that I am willing to maintain it? And things that I keep just for the memory? Take a picture, stick it in an album, give the thing away. Time to purge.
