i REALLY want to go, I always see pics of it and it’s sooooo beautiful! the white beaches and the turquiose water…. but I think I will have to go when I graduate or something because my family will never go to the Maldives….
i want to go to the maldives but only if i can surf good enough to ride that waves…
hi everyone, im working n living here in Maldives. if anyone need info or any help let me know
its hard to beleive they won’t be here forever and I want to see them before its too late. From what I have seen on the tv and on the internet its like the closest to paradise you can get, 2008 I am going there (fingers crossed)
What a trip… everything you read about this being a life altering place is completely correct.
Right when we stepped foot onto our balcony/deck we were greeted with a little Heron standing on our foot bath. He came around quite often throughout the trip. We had tiny lizards in the bathroom and later on the ceiling of our room.
It was amazing to see all kinds of wild life right on the beach in front of us. There were hermit crabs constantly walking around, tons of beautiful corals and shells washed ashore, and the often passing Black Tipped Reef shark. We also saw a few sting rays and passing pods of dolphins. You could simply stand in the water and look down and see fish swimming past. The colors on these fish were out of this world.
I am trying to think of the most memorable things since I could go on forever about all kinds of little details.
We chose to go on two trips while we were there and visited a deserted island for the afternoon, and also went on a snorkeling safari in the ocean. At one point during the snorkeling we were a little startled because they stopped the dhoni in choppy water and basically said ‘ok go ahead and jump out’. We all looked at each other and then went for it.
If you do go please be socially and environmentally responsible… some (myself included) go as far as packing their trash to take back home to dispose of it. The islands have limited landfills (typically burning things which then get dumped). I would highly recommend not taking babies here due to the diapers, and it is such a beautiful place that they are unable to enjoy, thus straining their parents.
wow it’s amazing. i’ve been there 7 times in the last 5 years… i now have friends there. the people and the islands are so beautiful. the landscapes are breathtaking. i completely recommend this trip.
