D went forward with his offer of having a friend of his make the theremin for me. His friend is an electronic technology teacher at MSAC and he is having his class construct two theremins as their big class project; one is for me and the other will remain in the ooh-aah-look-at-our-electronic-technology-department display case. I found out tonight that the students are excited about this project and some of them are even making their own theremins.
My theremin should be ready by end-November, but I’ll be out of the country by then so I won’t get to enjoy it for some time.

D emailed back and said he couldn’t help me make the theramin – that it goes beyond his electronic technician capabilities. He did, though, email another friend of his and offer to pay him to make it for me. He asked if this is what I want for Christmas. Very sweet, D – thank you!
True, I’d like to have a theramin of my own, but part of the appeal was making it and another part of the appeal was making alongside D. So being as I’m focused on getting rid of stuff so I can gear up to move far away I declined on D’s offer and told him it’s something I’d like to look into in the future. Alas!

I found some specs on how to make this instrument. I’m not electronically inclined (though I so wish I was!) but D knows a lot about this stuff. So the next step is to email him and ask if this is within the range of his time and capability.
