Get a PhD in History

this has always been a dream of mine. Tell me is it worth all the work? At 35 am I too old? What can one do with a Masters of history?

I’ve whittled my school choices down to ten schools, all in Britain, to assist with my other goal of moving to Britain. My choices so far are these, though not necessarily in this order:

1. St. Andrews
2. Glasgow
3. Strathclyde
4. Newcastle
5. Durham
6. Cardiff
7. Swansea
8. Exeter
9. Hull
10. York

Feeling done with corporate america. Ready to make a career change.

A hell of a lot of work, but ultimately worth it- I can become a stuffy academic lecturing at universities; travel; get a good wage; research and write my own books; bore all my friends to death with information I think is wonderful; and get fancy initials before/after my name…
