Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Prepare for our upcoming move

dirgonvery tiring

I hate moving. This is the sixth time that my wife and I have moved since we got married just over almost 11 years ago. We finally got everything out of the house, got it cleaned, and I pulled out with the last load on my truck at 5:15 p.m. today. I am so tired, it is indescribable right now.

Unfortunately, we have to do this one more time as this move was temporary. We are staying with my wife’s parents until our new home is ready in a couple of months. :) 8 years ago

dirgontoo much rain

Even though it rained yesterday, my father-in-law and I were able to move the building up to the new home place. Today was pretty much a wash (no pun intended), however, due to all the rain. Wednesday and Thursday will be much better days since it will be dry. I need to do a lot of moving over the next couple of days. We have to turn the keys over by Friday at 5:00 p.m. (CST). 8 years ago

dirgongood day today

My father-in-law and I moved a lot of stuff to storage today. We also jacked up a building that I have out back where I store my mowers and other lawn equipment. It is ready to be chained to a trailer and moved Monday. 8 years ago

dirgonClosing day

Friday is closing day on the sale of the house. After today, when the gutters are cleaned, we will have everything complete on our pre-close to-do list. There is so much to be moved at this point, however. If anyone is interested in helping out, give me a shout. :) 8 years ago

dirgonAlmost complete

Almost everything on our pre-close list is now complete. The only exception is cleaning out the gutters. I need to do that this week. 8 years ago

dirgonwork day

We did a lot of work today getting ready for the close. My father-in-law and I replaced our walk-in basement door today. The only item left on that little project is to trim out the door. We also started the work om the vanity in the bathroom. 9 years ago

dirgongetting ready

We are finally selling our house, so it is time to start packing up all of the valuables and getting ready to move to a temporary location before finally moving to our new home in a few months. 9 years ago
