My very good friend and I are going on a midnight picnic tommorow night!! I am excited I had never heard of this! My kids are gone at their Dad’s and my husband is out of town….should be very exciting and fun!!
Me and my boyfriend had a midnight picnic this weekend, it was so special..! So worth doing :-)
Jessica demands to be allowed to have more than 43 things!
...to knock this and the staying up to watch the sunrise off my list this August for my birthday. It’s the only time that Jonathan is completely compliant with my nutty ideas. Maybe I can find a weeping willow and have my romantic interlude too. Oh wow, three things in one day (or, night rather)? It could be asking too much.

i’m thinking this summer

the better question is, who am i going to invite, where am i going to have it, and what are we gonna eat?

A long time ago, when we were both still living at home, Duncan used to drive me home ‘the long way round’. This could sometimes be a very long way. Anyway, occasionally we would leave early, and take a flask of tea and some sandwiches (I know, how romantic…) and park somewhere, usually in the rain. OK, it wasn’t quite midnight, and not quite a picnic, but that’s the inspiration for this goal.
This year, we’re going to Orkney. At midsummer. When it stays fairly light all night, for at least one night. If the weather’s good, this might be a good opportunity. And if it’s wet, well, there’s always a flask of tea and some sandwiches, parked in the car somewhere.
So… we had 10 friends, a grill, food, & beverages for a midnite bbq for stargazing a few years back. SO WORTH DOING! We watched a meteor shower ‘til 4am, then packed up and drove home… rolled in around dawn and slept ‘til noon. IMHO – a perfect weekend!
I’m walking up to the outskirts of my town with my cousin which is a great vantage point to Glasgow. We’re going to wrap up warm with hats and scarves and have hot soup… I may even make rolls with my bread maker. I’m really looking forward it – hopefully will be a clear night to see constellations.I must remember to take camera!
