I re-started capoeira about 3-4 months ago now, with grupo capoeira Luanda in Houston TX!

I’m calling this one done. I had my fifth or sixth week last night (not being able to remember how many weeks is an indicator that I’ve officially returned to Capoeira.)
I have at least a month under my belt.
I bought a uniform shirt.
I think I can say I’ve started again and focus on goal number 2 which is to make it to my batizado and get my green cordo.
I pulled something last week. My butt had been a little sore from working out two days before and then I did a cartwheel in class and oww. Decided to do the smart thing and cut out of class early. Last time I played on an injury I ended up heading to the E.R. with a swolen ankle (sprained) it was great.
Well I’ve been taking it easy all week and today I did a test cartwheel with no pain. I’ll be heading to capoeira tomorrow night. _
Went to my first class tonight. Ouch, I feel great. I think the 4+ weeks of working out to prepair really helped. Leg excersizes for my knees, as well as braces on both of them, also paying off. I’m all icy hotted up but I’ll prolly still be a bit sore tomorrow. Nothing like the last time I started.
I’ll probably leave this up until after my first few classes. At least until next week when I have to actually start paying for class. First ones’ free like crack _
Even if we have to eat more ramen than usuall. I’ve been putting this off for about 1 month short of 2 years now for monitary reasons and it’s time I start doing it.
I’ve started Capoeira three times since 2000. Not a one of those times have I stuck with it until my batizado. All for different reasons. My wife quit and I lost the motivation. I got to busy at work, I couldn’t afford it.
Now I’m really going to do it. I can’t afford it right now (two kids in daycare and a mortage, we don’t do anything fun.) But I’m damned well making it to the next batizado at the closest school.
I’ve even started practicing what I know at home about twice a week so I’m not completely useless once I start class. Ties in well with my “get in shape” goal.
I’m expecting to be able to get into class in the next two months. To bad there isn’t anything near by. The closest one is about 45 mins away (that’s 25 miles and a lot of traffic.) But I’m going to do it.
That’s Mestre Amen’s school in the valley taught by Proffesore Xingu.
