The only aspect of my wedding that I was not satisfied with was the cake, so I’ve decided to bake us a beautiful, delicious wedding cake for our 1st anniversary. I’m a good baker, but I’ve never done a tiered cake or decorations, so I’ll have to do my homework and practice practice practice…

The puppy ate about half of it before I was able to decorate it, but I managed to salvage most of it. Now that I know I’ve got the basics down, next time I want to use fondant instead of butter cream and sugar flowers instead of real ones.
It’s difficult to pick just one picture, but this was one of my favorites – it was a very unusual cake covered in fondant/gumpaste mix leaves.
So far I’ve baked 4 wedding cakes, including my own! I agree with Emelle that I wouldn’t bake my own again, but baking one for someone else is the most amazing wedding present I can think of giving!
