I went to a free intro class in November 2008. The other week I went to an improv workshop and I’m going again this evening. I’m also planning on signing up for a level 1 class in the spring. I’m hoping the class can help me be a better improviser with stronger character development.
How to do improv comedy
How I did it: I have always been a natural jokester... very witty and "in the moment". At social gatherings, I'm usually the life of the party and I love to make people laugh. So I decided to take actual classes in Los Angeles, teaching me different games and ideas for Improv comedy. I did the classes for about 6 months and hosted many shows (typically every other week I was in the live Improv shows) at a well-known comedy club called the L.A. Connection Comedy Theatre.
Lessons & tips: Just go with your gut. Use the first joke or idea that pops into your mind and go with it. Don't second guess your choices. Stay loose and have fun!

I love it! :D
This is more than just being funny. This is about listening and communicating with the people around me. It forces me to be in the moment, and to think on my feet. Oh and it is good to laugh. Especially when my heart is broken.

so it lasts for 8 weeks and costs $200.00. I can’t fit it in until I get this major project completed. However as soon as I finish the project I am going to treat myself to improv comedy!! I can’t wait. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now.
cranraspberry postponing most of my goals to focus on a few at a time.
Joined my school’s improv comedy troope. it is utterly amazing.
I finished a run of four shows last night and that’s enough improv for me right now. I’ll go back if I start to miss it.
Performing at the UCB Theater is an unofficial goal of mine and it got fulfilled in an tangential way on Sunday. Me and my classmates put on a show at the Spark Center, which is a fancy name for a room in the back of a coffee shop on 22nd St. As it happens, that coffee shop is where the UCB Theater was before it moves to it’s fancier digs on 26th. So I can say I had a show at the UCB, only I was about 4 years to late.
Last night, I completed a run of three shows. That brings my total to six. Four of those went well and I can see myself improving. It also helps that I’ve fallen in with a talented group. I’ve already signed up for the next series of classes and shows.
I’m in the Level 4 class now. The Level 3 class show went well so that’s three shows that I’ve done. I’m giving this improv comedy thing 20 shows. After that, I’ll decide if it’s worth any more effort.
We had our first level three class last night. There are 18 people in it and overall it’s a good group. I’m hoping for a good show in January.
