For about the last year, I have been having a lot of trouble keeping a clean house….
I regrettably changed jobs 10 months ago, and this new job brings me home burned out, with very little energy to do anything..
I live alone, and have very few visitors. Recently, a friend of mine called me and says he is coming over for a visit, and would be here in 30 mins… I had to rush around to pick up junk, and hide dirty clothes and dishes under the bed… I felt pretty embarrassed to have a guest with the house in that bad of shape… I had to apologize quite a few times for the mess, needless to say, he didn’t stay too long…
I guess I need some tips on how to keep things organized when coming home burned out at least 6 days a week, and only having 4 awake hours at home on those 6 days. I am dreading it now having the warmer weather and soon having to start trying to fit cutting grass and other landscaping into the picture..

I decided that “having a clean house” was a great goal, but a little too general for me to see improvements. Sooo, I’m doing daily little things just so that I can feel some success. In doing this sort of goal quest before, I noticed that every day, if I didn’t get a feeling of accomplishment right off the bat, I tended to get immune to failing at my goal. That’s sort of where I am now. Things need to improve, but I just can’t find the will power to fix them. I feel as if the job is too big, and I’m overwhelmed. Hopefully, hopefully, I will be able to do this.

It rules me. It determines my self worth, or lack thereof. So why don’t I get off my butt and do something about it? Today I begin. I’m tired of piles of dirty dishes and laundry being the boss of me. I will win.

This is easy now. I moved back in with mom! There is no where for me to live currently on the new property, so I’m living at the Ritz Carlton a.k.a. mom’s house. :)

My brother moved out 2 weeks ago. I have stated I will scrub the house clean. Well, I’ve done some of it, but have been lazy enough not to completely finish. I plan to set individual goals to complete. First one? Vacuum the floors COMPLETELY. Including under furniture and into corners. And mop the non carpeted rooms.

CinWryter thinks hard physical work is great for the soul
Yikes! I was more evil than good today. I need a strategy.
Strategy: My next day off (Wednesday or Thursday) I will get rid of excess boxes & junk in the office. I will get the recyclables together and put them out. I will sort through and recycle old magazines and the table near my LaZboy.

Today is my day off and my husband walks in unexpectedly and says one of our employees may have to wait at our house for several hours until his vehicles is repaired. What a mess my kitchen was. And the living room. So, begrudgingly I have cleaned and put things away. While coloring my hair (waiting to wash it out) I put away all the clean laundry from last week. I did more cleaning than mess-making today!

Small starts

I think if I start small, say clean one closet at a time and then move on to organize and sort and throw away, I’ll eventually reach my ultimate goal.
Goal 1: Clean up & “remodel” the laundry room.

Beth sleep in my eyes.
Cleaned on saturday. I know, I’ll have to do it again next week, it’s kinda a thing that keeps having to be done, turns out the house doesn’t clean itself. But, the place is sparkling still, well, minus the dishes. But they’re getting done today. The place still looks great and we had people over. So, I must have done something right. I think it’s clean enough right now that it’s going to take some time to mess it up again. and i don’t plan on trying to mess it up either!
