i moved from iowa to utah,,
i miss iowa terribly
like the beautiful days, flat green land, less drama and i miss mt.vernon and hiawatha little towns are so much funner then big citys.
I also think it is a greaT place to live trust me.
Utah is a goodplace too but you have to put freaken sprinkler systems in and when i lived in iowa i didnt even kknow there was such things it is also not very green here just dry.
How to move to Iowa
How I did it: I was forced by my mother into moving here. :/ I hate this place so much. I want my beautiful California back so much. DO NOT FORCE YOUR CHILDREN TO MOVE TO THIS CRAPPY PLACE. THEY WILL HATE YOU.
People doing this are also doing these things:

The people are friendly, the skies are blue and everything is so much more relaxed then on the west coast.

I guess a few people do want to move to Iowa, huh? I just moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to start my new job. It has been alright so far. I start working on Monday, so I’ll soon find out how that goes. It seems warmer than North Dakota here, so I can’t complain about that.
I’ve lived in Omaha my entire life and want to move away from the city. My ultimate career goal is to teach at the Iowa school for the deaf and live in a rundown old farmhouse outside of Ames. I visited a friends’ family who had just bought a huge plot of land in Griswold, and it was absolutely beautiful, and so peaceful. I could see keeping horses and growing huge gardens, and spending more time outdoors there.
I loved growing up in Iowa. Its a good place to meet yourself.
Good Points:
- Has 4 Seasons
- Detasseling builds character
- Sledding
- Good Meat (Mmm.)
- No distracting “Culture” (just kidding.[mostly])
- Sweet corn
- Butter Cow
- Iowa State Fair
- Escaping
All in all it was definatly a net positive living there. I might even move back someday.
BeMe29 is so cool :)
I moved to iowa in 8/2004 but only to go to the Univesity. Iowa is a nice place to move but i believe it depends on where you move in iowa. Their a few places that many people may not want to move. But if your young and college bound i would recommend Iowa City. I Currently live in Iowa City and I love it, the people are so FREAKING NICE.It’s a great place to have your kids grow up. I’m from Chicago and Iowa is a big change. It’s less people, less stuff to do, but Less Crime,Less traffic. You know it’s kinda take this or take that. You have to weigh your options. Iowa’s nice but i do Miss Chi-town, the windy city, so many places to shop:) But iowa is for people who are looking to concentrate and live the good life. So i would recommend it. It’s a cool place. It’s only 3 hours away from Chicago anyway!!
I just arrived in Iowa today after a whirlwind few weeks of packing and saying goodbye. Sheesh. Tired. Ready to be unpacked. Now…just need the moving truck to arrive!
The movers aren’t scheduled yet, but I’m going to be there by mid-September no matter what! After a year of trying to get there, this move is going to be a huge relief.
I need to move to a small/rural community in Iowa. The key word is community. I am tired of they anonymity of going to a local event and seeing hundreds of people and knowing none of them. My children make friends and often they don’t see them again for months if ever. The graduating class of the local school is over 2500 people. That is too large for an individual to distinguish themselves. My son starts school very soon and I need to get out before then. One problem: finding a comprobable career back in Iowa.
