truly listen

It’s amazing how much you can learn about someone when you give them your full attention, noticing their tone, posture, and gestures. Often non-verbal cues indicate that what is expressed is not true, or perhaps not yet true. It’s interesting to me that some people are nervous about expressing their true emotions verbally while their face and body are screaming them out loud.

While there are specific results I would like to see that will be a benefit of my continuing this practice, as long as there’s room on my list this will remain. This is an ongoing process, not something I ever hope to complete.

I will stop formulating responses while the other person is talking, look in their eyes, and offer way less advice.
