exhibit my photographs in a public place

I’ll be holding an open day in a public place on the 7th of November. It will be my own work on display – portrait and wedding stuff, and I’m still pondering whether to put a little landscape/travel stuff up, or will that be too much of a spread of genre? Hmm…

Anyway… open day ... yeah, should be fun. We’ll be doing a bit of a fashion shoot, too – I have a willing model coming along, and the number for another one. As well as free portrait sittings. Should be fun if I can get enough people to come along.

One of my regular pubs has artwork up for sale on the walls. Last night, we noticed the artwork has changed and been replaced by photos. (And I’m pretty sure I could do better than those on display).

I may approach the landlord and get on the waiting list.

All of the sudden, I’m hanging a show at a friend’s bar next Monday. I have seven days to throw together my very first photography show. Holy wow.

Another gallery identified… a bit of a strange one, in a cafe – but there’s no real scope for standing looking at the pictures due to the layout. A little poor, that.

I’ve identified a suitable gallery. Two tasks to perform now:

1) Make a collection.
2) Approach the curator (I have her contact details).

I would like to make sure by the end of the year I am going to have 2 photographs on show to the public.

A selection of my fashion photographs are now on display downtown. Exciting!!

Now that I feel more confident about my work I can begin to think about this goal. But now my problem is that I don’t know where to start. I have never shown my work in a public place before and haven’t even tried yet. So now I will put together some of my best photos and do some research. Any suggestions?
