I got low-wattage ones and, with judicious use of shades, am able to use them without the blinding white glare natecull describes.

...I use most often. Should do all my lamps/lights. I haven’t had any problems with this, in fact I like the way they take a while to heat up and reach full brightness.
They’re fine for garage or outdoor use, but I’m disappointed in the RO80 energy savers I just put in my living room. They’re too white, too bright, and make my lounge feel like a factory. I think I’ll be removing them.
